Skydiving over Interlaken is one of the great aerial experiences in the Alps. You climb out over the twin lakes with the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau filling the horizon, then freefall with the whole Bernese Oberland laid out beneath you. For most people it is a tandem jump, strapped to a professional instructor, so no experience is needed at all.
What a jump involves
After a short briefing and kit-up, you board a plane or helicopter and climb to altitude, usually around 4,000 metres. Strapped to your instructor, you exit into a freefall of roughly a minute, then the canopy opens for a calm, several-minute glide back down over the lakes and mountains. The instructor flies the parachute and handles the landing; your only job is to enjoy the view.
Operators and booking
Skydiving here is run by professional drop-zone operators with licensed tandem instructors and, often, the option of a helicopter climb for an even bigger view. Weather is the deciding factor: jumps only run in safe conditions, so build flexibility into your trip and treat a confirmed slot as weather-dependent until you are in the aircraft.
